Find Hillsborough Arrest History

To look up Hillsborough County arrest records, begin with the booking system run by the sheriff and then follow the record to the agency and court that own each part. The county jail accepts people arrested by city, county, state, and special-jurisdiction officers. A Hillsborough County arrest history can therefore span several custodians. Booking details describe intake and custody, while the police report gives the arrest narrative and the clerk's docket gives the filed charge and outcome. State prison, supervision, and federal custody records use separate official searches.

Arrest History in Hillsborough County

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Tampa Police, Plant City Police, Temple Terrace Police, Florida Highway Patrol, Tampa Airport Police, USF Police, and other agencies can make arrests here. HCSO runs county detention, so a city or state arrest may still produce an HCSO booking. The arresting agency keeps its incident or probable-cause report. HCSO keeps intake and custody data. The Clerk holds a case only after the State Attorney files charges.

An arrest history is a chain of events, not a finding of guilt. It may show booking, release, bond, holds, and allegations known at intake. The official HCSO warning is important: booking information has no connection to guilt, innocence, acquittal, dismissal, or final outcome. Use the court docket to learn what prosecutors filed and how each charge ended.

Hillsborough Central Booking Network

Orient Road Jail is the primary receiving and central-booking site for more than 27 agencies. Intake staff create the jail entry, collect fingerprints and a booking photo, assign identifiers, record property, screen medical and mental-health needs, classify custody, and prepare the person for first appearance or release. HCSO describes a 4,947-bed detention system. Falkenburg Road Jail is a 3,300-rated-bed direct-supervision complex, but Orient remains the key booking and records point.

The jail record is not the officer's narrative. Request that report from the agency that made the arrest, even when HCSO handled the booking.

How to Look Up Hillsborough County Arrests

The free HCSO Arrest Inquiry is the most direct county booking search. It covers electronic adult arrest records since January 1, 1995, uses reCAPTCHA, and updates every 30 minutes. Complete the search with the most exact identifiers available, then follow the record through each custodian.

  1. Search HCSO Arrest Inquiry by exact name, booking number, booking or release date, date of birth, or available demographic filters. Select current inmates or arrest details when useful.
  2. Contact HCSO Public Records at 813-247-8210 for an older entry, attachment, or releasable sheriff report. Ask the city or other arresting agency for its own narrative.
  3. Search HOVER for the prosecutor-filed Hillsborough case, events, disposition, and sentence.
  4. Use the FDLE Florida Criminal History Record Check for a statewide name result, or FDLE Personal Review with fingerprints for identity-confirmed self-review.
  5. Submit a focused Florida public-record request when online routes fail. Give the record type, booking or incident number, date range, location, agency, and preferred format.

HCSO detention general information is available at 813-247-8300. A broad records request can lead to a special-service charge under section 119.07 when extensive staff time or technology is needed, so ask for an estimate first.

Hillsborough First-Day Booking Delay

A new booking normally enters Arrest Inquiry within 30 minutes, but it can remain absent from general listings during the first 24 hours. An exact first-and-last-name search can still find the person. Add date of birth or other public demographics to reduce namesake errors. Search by booking date and enable the detailed view when those inputs are known.

The official HCSO interface shows how the county exposes booking and release queries.

This search form is the proper starting point for recent county custody. It does not show the final criminal court result.

Note: Incident, arrest, booking, filing, and disposition dates describe different events and should not be treated as conflicting by default.

What an Arrest Record Shows

An HCSO detail may carry booking identifiers, physical descriptors, custody status, holds, bond totals, aliases, arrest agency, timestamps, release information, and one row for each intake charge. Some fields are sensitive. Explain categories without copying a person's date of birth, address, name, or photograph into another publication.

Booking NumberHCSO's year-and-sequence identifier, separate from a Clerk case number.
Booking Date and TimeWhen HCSO completed intake, which may differ from arrest time.
Arresting AgencyThe city, county, state, campus, airport, or other agency that made the arrest.
ChargesIntake allegations, local codes, class, count, report number, and available court cross-reference.
Bond and HoldsPosted conditions, cash or purge totals, and other custody restraints shown at that time.
Booking Photo PolicyHCSO may display an official intake image in the public detail; it is not proof of guilt and is not republished here.
Release StatusCurrent status, location, release time, narrative, and mechanism when public.

SOID is a sheriff's identity number. OBTS is an Offender Based Transaction System identifier that helps connect a Florida arrest cycle to later reporting. Neither substitutes for the Clerk's case number or final disposition.

Tracing Hillsborough Arrest Record Trails

A Tampa Police contact is a clear example of the county's split system. TPD can create its own incident, CAD, or city name-search record. If a person is booked, HCSO creates the jail entry. If the State Attorney files, the Clerk creates a HOVER docket. Fingerprint-linked data and reported outcomes then reach FDLE. Each source answers a different question.

Tampa Police also offers a $3 city-only arrest or name search that requires a complete name, aliases, date of birth, and current address. It is not a county or state history.

Hillsborough Arrest Report Custodians

Records stay agency by agency even though bookings converge at HCSO. Tampa Police Records is at 411 N. Franklin Street and can be reached at 813-276-3250. Plant City Police is at 1 Police Center Drive, 813-757-9200, with fax service at 813-757-9121. Temple Terrace Police Records works from City Hall at 11250 N. 56th Street and can be reached at 813-506-6516. Those offices hold the reports their officers created.

Other jurisdictions have their own channels. Tampa Airport Police accepts records inquiries through its aviation authority route at P.O. Box 22287 and 813-870-8721. USF Police keeps campus records at 13152 USF Genshaft Drive and uses up-records@usf.edu. Florida Highway Patrol receives records questions at FHPRecords@flhsmv.gov or 904-359-6581. A focused request names the report type, incident number if known, date and time, exact place, and preferred electronic format.

For dispatch, 911 audio, or body-camera material, narrow the time window and officer or unit. Active investigations, juvenile and victim material, exempt identifiers, and security-sensitive content may be withheld or redacted. Large video requests can require staff review and a cost estimate.

Recent Arrests and Booking Logs

HCSO Arrest Inquiry serves as Hillsborough County's official recent-booking source. It can sort by booking date, booking number, or name, and it provides a current-inmate filter. Ordinary public entries remain available for 90 days after release. During the first day, use an exact-name query. After the 90-day window, use HCSO's public-record route instead of assuming the arrest never occurred.

The public list is a moving custody view, not a permanent county arrest ledger. Release causes records to age out. Redactions, record restrictions, data entry timing, or an arrest handled outside the county can also affect results. For the eventual charge and result, use the Hillsborough criminal court case file.

Correcting Hillsborough Arrest Errors

HCSO has a specific correction path. Factual booking errors go on its Error Correction Form to the Captain, Intake Operations Bureau, 1201 N. Orient Road, Tampa. If stolen identity caused a booking to be tied to the wrong person, HCSO Identification handles fingerprint verification at 813-247-0062. Bring or submit the identifiers the official process requests.

A wrong court outcome belongs elsewhere. The Clerk and FDLE reporting chain handles final disposition corrections. Sealed or expunged removal follows Florida's formal process. Using the right custodian keeps a booking-data issue from being confused with a prosecutor or court reporting issue.

For self-review at the state level, FDLE permits a Personal Review based on a completed fingerprint card at no charge. That process is stronger for identity resolution than a name search. The public FDLE name check costs $24, plus a $1 card-processing fee for the instant product, and covers Florida rather than the nation. Similar names, aliases, missing fingerprints, or delayed disposition reporting can still require follow-up with HCSO or the Clerk.

Hillsborough Custody Search Boundaries

HCSO covers county jail custody. The Florida Department of Corrections Offender Search covers sentenced state prisoners and felony supervision. It may show a person long after county release, but it is not an archive of every local arrest.

The state search provides a separate view of Florida prison and supervision records.

This official FDC layer should be used only for its custody and supervision scope. Federal confinement uses the Bureau of Prisons locator instead.

The Middle District of Florida's Tampa courthouse is the local federal court source.

Arrests vs Convictions

An arrest proves that an agency took a person into custody or processed a qualifying arrest event. It does not prove the allegation. A conviction requires a court judgment of guilt. Charges can be declined, changed, dismissed, acquitted, resolved with a withhold of adjudication, or disposed in other ways permitted by Florida law.

Note: A Hillsborough County arrest is not proof of guilt, and the filed charge or final outcome may differ from intake data.
